Railroad Bridge over Rt 13 in New Castle

Senator Poore met with representatives from Norfolk Southern, DelDOT, and New Castle County to discuss the railroad bridge over Route 13 in New Castle.

DelDOT will take the lead in applying for a permit to paint the bridge, with an estimated approval timeframe of 3 to 6 months. Once the permit is granted, DelDOT will proceed with the painting project.

In the interim, Norfolk Southern will assess the pipe currently running along the bridge. If deemed appropriate, the pipe will be removed to help deter graffiti.

Finally, DelDOT will request an inspection of the bridge’s structural integrity.

Bushes on both side of the bridge have already been removed.
